Recently, Cambodia’s national news agency and 11 other media organisations visited O’Smach market and surrounding civilian areas in Samraong, Oddar Meanchey province, on a trip organised by the Information Ministry to examine conditions after the border conflict.

The media team photographed and recorded damage following Thai shelling. Buildings were fractured, streets damaged and the once-busy market deserted, showing the severe impact on residents’ lives and livelihoods, the report said.

The Information Ministry said the visit aimed to present concrete visual evidence to the outside world and show the international community what it described as Thai forces’ unlawful expansion and military provocations during the border conflict, and their consequences for local livelihoods.
