Summary

The Preah Sihanouk governor discussed work, family education, social participation and historical contributions at a February 10 women’s annual conference.

“Women play a very important part in national and social development. They can create jobs, contribute to economic development and improve families’ and communities’ quality of life, while being a vital force in raising and educating children as important future human resources.” Preah Sihanouk Governor Mang Sineth made these remarks on February 10 at the provincial Cambodian Women for Peace and Development association branch and women’s movement conference reviewing 2025 and setting directions for 2026.

He said women were active in social movements and helped resolve many difficulties. They worked as teachers, physicians and medical personnel, employees and employers, entrepreneurs, commune chiefs and clerks, artists, association heads, and in trade unions, the Senate, government and other important leadership positions.

The governor said Cambodia’s long history also demonstrated women’s value in leadership and national development. He particularly cited Princess Liu Yi, whom he described as the first Khmer monarch, and Princess Indradevi as outstanding women who helped the country progress.
