Summary

The group included 26 women and people from ten countries, with 319 Chinese nationals. The report distinguishes online fraud from immigration and employment offences.

On February 11, Cambodia’s General Department of Immigration continued foreign-national enforcement under the deputy prime minister and interior minister’s instructions, deporting 835 people, including 26 women, under legal procedures. They came from ten countries: Cameroon, Nigeria, Liberia, the Philippines, Malaysia, China, Nepal, Pakistan, India and Indonesia.

The operation included 319 Chinese nationals, mainly connected to online-scam cases. Some others were dealt with for unlawful entry, residence or employment. The people concerned had been returned to their countries through channels including the Techo International Airport immigration checkpoint.

The government described the action as an important measure against cybercrime and unlawful migration, demonstrating its determination to eliminate scams and protect public security locally, regionally and globally. Enforcement agencies said organisers and other people involved would be held accountable according to law, while they would also cooperate to rescue people deceived into unlawful activities, help them regain freedom and return home safely.
