Summary

For the 27th National Mine Awareness Day on February 24, the prime minister’s message calls for school and community education, clearance and public safety precautions.

On the occasion of the 27th National Mine Awareness Day, observed on February 24, 2026, Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet called on relevant ministries, institutions and national and international authorities to participate actively in educating residents, students, children and young people in affected communities about mines and explosive remnants of war.

In a message posted on social media, he recommended direct education in schools, pagodas and communities and implementation of the safe village, commune and sangkat policy. The Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport should teach students about the dangers and safety measures, making broad use of radio, television, social media and billboards.

The mine authority should coordinate with national and international operators, donor countries, development partners and philanthropists to prevent accidents and provide safe land for farms, schools, hospitals, administrative buildings, bridges and roads. Surveying and clearing mines and explosive remnants of war are important steps in restoring damaged livelihoods and infrastructure.

He also urged residents to remain alert and follow safety measures: if mines, explosive remnants or cluster munitions are found, do not touch, strike, burn or play with them, and report them immediately to the competent authorities. They must not be stored, bought, sold or modified, and people should avoid unfamiliar areas.

On this occasion, Hun Manet offered wishes to the two supreme patriarchs, senior monks and people throughout the country for safety, longevity, health and happiness. By: KPS99TV.
