At around 3:30 a.m. on February 24, a fight occurred near Beach Road in Pattaya, Thailand. A 55-year-old German tourist told police someone took his bag and fled during the confrontation, while companions shouted at witnesses to stop them filming. Local police were investigating.
According to his account to investigators, he met one person in Pattaya on the evening of February 23 and brought them to his hotel room. He said he had believed the person was a woman. After discovering that the situation differed from his expectations, an argument followed and he made the person leave the room and escorted them downstairs.
When he returned to the room, he found approximately US$2,300 missing from the safe. He pursued and stopped the person outside the hotel, after which four other people allegedly appeared and assaulted him. Police said they were tracing those involved.
