On the morning of February 25, 2026, Preah Sihanouk Deputy Governor Samut Sothearith joined the Senate’s Seventh Commission on a visit to Hun Sen Mittapheap Primary School to learn about good practices in teaching and learning foreign languages.
The programme took place at the school in Sangkat 4, Sihanoukville, under commission chairman Chhit Sokhon. The Seventh Commission covers education, youth, sports, religious affairs, culture, fine arts and tourism.
The delegation heard detailed presentations on teachers’ new methods intended to help primary pupils understand foreign languages more quickly and use them confidently.
The visit aimed to gather information and successful experience from local schools as input for supporting and strengthening education, particularly foreign-language skills needed in an era of globalisation.
The report described the visit as reflecting the Senate leadership’s and provincial authorities’ attention to improving state-school education and developing capable human resources from the foundational level. By Pai Sokhim
