Opening the ASEAN–Cambodia Business Summit 2026 in Phnom Penh on March 4, Prime Minister Hun Manet said the global economic setting had changed profoundly amid uncertainty, climate change, supply-chain disruption and geopolitical tensions. ASEAN needed deeper economic integration, diversified energy supplies and effective crisis-response mechanisms to strengthen resilience as it pursued the goal of becoming the world’s fourth-largest economy by 2045.
Hun Manet said Cambodia maintained growth of approximately 5.2 percent in 2025 and aimed for continued robust growth, offering investors advantages including 100 percent business ownership, digitalised procedures and fewer trade barriers. National policies aligned with the Pentagonal Strategy’s focus on people, roads, water, electricity and technology, with technical and vocational education and training for 1.5 million young people to respond to Industry 4.0. Cambodia was also improving logistics through the Funan Techo Canal project and the launch of the 4F-class Techo International Airport, strengthening international links, reducing reliance on transit through third countries and increasing national economic competitiveness.
