General Sar Thet, National Police Commissioner-General, expressed strong support and commitment to advancing gender equality and the standing of women in the police. He said this would follow government policies and strategies and the Interior Ministry’s gender-mainstreaming strategic plan under Deputy Prime Minister and Interior Minister Sar Sokha.
He made the remarks while presiding with Sar Sina at a ceremony marking the 115th anniversary of International Women’s Day on the morning of March 6, 2026, at the Interior Ministry. Held under the theme “Peace and Security for Women and Families,” it was attended by National Police leaders and numerous women officers.
Sar Thet said the annual March 8 observance was a meaningful national campaign held across ministries, state institutions and relevant organisations to advance women’s roles and rights, in line with the theme set by the Ministry of Women’s Affairs and endorsed by the government.
The day also recalls women’s struggle for rights and freedoms and celebrates Cambodian women’s achievements and progress in social development and nation-building. It reflects the challenges women face and the government’s commitment to gender equality, stronger rights and the empowerment of women and girls as a central force for national development.
He added that the government led by Prime Minister Hun Manet continued working to preserve peace, political stability, security, public order and social safety while further promoting gender equality.
Sar Thet thanked and commended all women police officers for serving the nation and the public with responsibility, courage and determination in their security, public-order and social-safety duties. Written by: KPS99TV
