Phnom Penh: Cambodia is preparing an initial export of in-shell cashew nuts to China worth about US$35 million, while the parties aim to expand the trade to approximately US$400 million in the future.
The plan was discussed when Samheng Bora, Secretary of State at the Ministry of Commerce and chairman of the Export Promotion Task Force, received Jiang Xiaofei and representatives of China Bonded Port Group Co., Ltd. and Men Sarun MDR Co., Ltd. at the ministry on the morning of March 11, 2026. Jiang was identified as director of the Overseas Enterprise Expansion Working Committee of the China Institute for Innovation and Development Strategy, CIIDS.
Ministry leaders and technical officials attended the meeting, which focused on stronger economic, trade and investment cooperation between Cambodia and China and new opportunities to promote Cambodian agricultural exports to international markets.
Samheng Bora welcomed the Chinese delegation and exchanged views on strengthening agro-industry and value chains as important contributors to sustainable Cambodian economic growth.
He also witnessed China Bonded Port Group Co., Ltd. and Men Sarun MDR Co., Ltd. sign a Memorandum of Understanding on the “Supply Contract of Cambodian Cashew Nuts”.
Under the agreement, Cambodia plans an initial export to China of M23 in-shell cashews worth approximately US$35 million. Both parties intend to expand exports further, hoping to reach approximately US$400 million in the future.
The report attributed the outcome to the Export Promotion Task Force’s active coordination and business matching, linking Cambodian exporters with prospective international buyers.
It described the companies’ cooperation as supporting Cambodian cashew exports to China and sending a positive signal to attract Chinese investment in processing and agricultural value addition in Cambodia, opening wider international markets.
