On March 10, 2026, Thai media quoted Thailand’s foreign minister as saying Prime Minister Hun Manet had posted that negotiations to reclaim territory might take place after the New Year.
The Cambodian government spokesperson denied this, saying Hun Manet had never stated on social media that negotiations through the JBC mechanism would resume after the New Year.
The spokesperson said Cambodia’s position was to implement the December 27, 2025 joint statement and existing agreements, allowing the Joint Boundary Commission to work promptly to resolve border issues and secure lasting peace, without waiting until after the New Year.
Since the second ceasefire, the State Secretariat of Border Affairs, representing the Cambodian JBC, had submitted five requests for Thailand to send joint survey teams to work on the ground, according to the spokesperson. Written by Lay Kol
