Summary

The administration in Preah Sihanouk province will oversee movements into and out of the zone and facilitate administrative and investment procedures.

The Cambodian government, through Prime Minister Hun Manet, issued a decision establishing the Grand Bokor Special Economic Zone Administration. The zone is in Preaek Toal and Preaek Sangkae villages, Tuek Thla commune, Prey Nob district, Preah Sihanouk province.

The decision, received on the morning of March 13, said the administration would be chaired by a representative of the Council for the Development of Cambodia or the Cambodian Investment Board, with representatives of four other ministries or institutions as members.

Under the decision as reported, the administration is to inspect goods, vehicles and people entering and leaving the zone within its specialist authority; undertake customs procedures for goods; and facilitate administrative procedures with relevant government bodies for the zone’s operations. It is also to supervise the zone developer’s and investors’ activities under established principles.

It is further to examine applications for investment registration and incentives, permits, licences and certificates of origin requested by zone investors for decisions on site, and conduct specialist inspections of activities in the zone. It must cooperate with the developer to resolve matters within its authority.

It must facilitate relevant procedures quickly and efficiently, submit monthly, quarterly, half-yearly and annual activity reports to its supervising ministries and institutions and the Cambodian Investment Board, and coordinate other investor requests involving government bodies.
