To address farmers’ and agricultural communities’ concerns about fuel and fuel-gas supplies and prices, the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries has instructed capital and provincial agriculture departments to help coordinate solutions. These fuels are essential for agricultural machinery, irrigation systems and the transport of farm produce.
The ministry said it had discussed those concerns with the Ministry of Mines and Energy and the Ministry of Commerce. It instructed all heads of capital and provincial agriculture, forestry and fisheries departments to continue monitoring and helping coordinate fuel and fuel-gas supplies and prices in their areas. Prices must follow the tables published by the mines and energy and commerce ministries.
According to the Agriculture Ministry, departments should promptly help coordinate solutions when farmers or agricultural communities have difficulty obtaining fuel. They should also help inform them about using storage containers, such as jerrycans or cans, at safe capacities to prevent fires from harming property, personal safety and the lives of local residents. Any fuel or fuel-gas supply problems or abnormal price increases should be reported immediately to the ministry’s General Secretariat for urgent action.
