Cambodia’s King Norodom Sihamoni underwent successful surgery at a hospital in Beijing, China, on the morning of April 20, 2026, according to the Ministry of the Royal Palace. The King had previously publicly disclosed a prostate cancer diagnosis. In an April 18 message of well wishes, Hun Sen said the condition required surgical treatment on doctors’ advice.
The announcement said the operation had been completed successfully and that the King had left the operating room the same day. He remained under close care and observation by the medical team.
The Ministry said the King would remain in Beijing for a further period of hospital care and monitoring on doctors’ advice. The report also says he would return to Cambodia after his health and strength had improved and the medical team advised him to do so.
