Environment Minister អ៊ាង សុផល្លែត called on people across Cambodia to collect free seedlings from capital and provincial environment departments and regional nurseries for planting during the 2026 rainy season.

The appeal was made on June 11, 2026, under the “Green Shoots” campaign, an initiative led by Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet to expand forest cover and contribute towards the goal of carbon neutrality by 2050.
The ministry has established nurseries at environment departments nationwide and five regional nurseries in Tbong Khmum, Kampong Speu, Siem Reap, Koh Kong and Mondulkiri, with the capacity to produce millions of seedlings annually.
In 2025, the ministry distributed more than 3.4 million seedlings free of charge. For 2026, it planned to distribute five million, including valuable timber species such as បេង, នាងនួន, ក្រញូង and ធ្នង់, as well as fruit trees, ornamental trees and 1.5 million sugar-palm seedlings.
The seedlings will be provided free to the public for planting at schools, pagodas, communities and other public spaces to expand green cover and promote environmental conservation in Cambodia. By: Pai Sokhim
