The Ministry of Tourism is preparing a plan to develop the national park ព្រះជ័យវរ្ម័ននរោត្តម, “Phnom Kulen”, into an important and leading Southeast Asian destination for nature, cultural and faith tourism, with quality, sustainability and strong competitiveness.
At a meeting with communities and tourism operators at Phnom Kulen on 3 July 2026, Tourism Minister Huot Hak set out a vision for developing it into a major tourism destination after Angkor, focusing on conserving natural resources, cultural heritage and religious values.
The meeting brought together around 200 people, including Tourism Ministry leaders, Siem Reap provincial authorities, relevant technical departments, local authorities, private-sector representatives and members of all five communities, to discuss local challenges and requests.
The minister thanked the communities for actively helping conserve natural resources and promote Phnom Kulen’s tourism potential to Cambodian and international visitors.
The development plan aims to enhance visitor experiences and attract visitors throughout the year, in both the high season and the Green Season, in line with the government’s sustainable and inclusive tourism development policy.
The Ministry of Tourism also provided assistance to the five communities, with each community receiving one million riel. The assistance also included 20 Green Season umbrellas and 20 Green Season raincoats for use during the rainy season.
