Following guidance from Senior Minister គន់ គីម, First Vice-President of the National Committee for Disaster Management (NCDM), NCDM Deputy Secretary-General សុទ្ធ គឹមកុលមុនី and គង់ គា, Director of the Rice Crop Department at the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, inspected, monitored and assessed impacts on wet-season rice and reviewed interventions to supply farmers with water in Battambang province on July 22, 2026.
The mission aimed to examine actual conditions and promote effective interventions in line with guidance from គន់ គីម. He had urged provincial authorities, technical departments and relevant institutions to work together to monitor water conditions regularly and arrange the distribution, blocking and redirection of water so that it reached canal ends and farmers had water to rescue their rice crops.
Residents and farmers actively helped arrange and divert water sources under the guidance of the authorities and technical teams, allowing water to reach areas at the ends of canals and fields facing water shortages.
Farmers also expressed thanks to គន់ គីម for leading and coordinating interventions with relevant ministries, institutions and authorities to ensure water supplies to rescue rice crops and reduce effects on livelihoods.
The National Committee for Disaster Management also thanked the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, the Ministry of Water Resources and Meteorology, authorities at all levels and residents for working closely together on water distribution and rice-rescue interventions to maintain yields and reduce the effects of water shortages during the wet season.
