On the morning of July 27, 2026, នី ផល្លា, Secretary of State at the Ministry of Tourism and deputy secretary-general of គ.អ.ឆ.ក., joined Koh Rong municipal governor រាជ សុវណ្ណ, representatives of relevant agencies, the private sector and tourism business owners at a consultation meeting in Koh Rong on preparing an environmental sanitation management and plastic waste reduction plan for the municipality.
At the meeting, municipal governor រាជ សុវណ្ណ outlined local conditions, challenges and the causes of waste, especially plastic waste. He also described measures and work directions being implemented by the municipal administration to improve environmental sanitation and maintain the appearance of tourism areas.
នី ផល្លា offered key recommendations on solid waste management and urged all relevant parties, especially resort owners, tourism businesses and the private sector, to cooperate in reducing plastic use and implementing effective waste management measures, with the aim of making Koh Rong a clean, green and plastic-waste-free tourism destination.
At the close, participants heard comments and requests from residents, business owners and private-sector representatives, who expressed their shared commitment to maintaining environmental sanitation, reducing plastic use and addressing waste problems to improve the cleanliness and sustainability of tourism in Koh Rong.
