Cambodia has declared its firm and unequivocal opposition to the use of cluster bombs, weapons that pose a serious threat to civilian lives and leave behind dangerous explosive remnants that can affect communities for decades and across generations.
H.E. Ly Thuch, Senior Minister and First Vice President of the Cambodian Mine Action and Victim Assistance Authority, said Cambodia calls on the international community to work together to end the use, production, transfer and stockpiling of cluster bombs in order to protect people’s lives and promote peace and human security.
He made the remarks while inspecting cluster bomb survey and clearance activities carried out by Norwegian People’s Aid (NPA) in Kon Mom district, Ratanakiri province, on the morning of August 4, 2026.
He emphasized that Cambodia has suffered severely from bombs and landmines left behind after war. Cambodia therefore understands the hardships faced by its people and continues to give its full support to international efforts to eliminate these weapons worldwide.
