At an August 3 leadership meeting, Cambodia’s health minister urged stronger dengue control, vigilance against infectious diseases, digital workflows and health education.

H.E. Chheang Ra, Cambodia’s Minister of Health, reminded authorities in the capital and provinces to continue giving close attention to the fight against dengue and urged heightened vigilance against infectious diseases that may still pose risks to public health.

The reminder came at the first leadership meeting for August, held at the Ministry of Health headquarters on August 3, 2026, to set directions and advance further work. A total of 150 participants attended, comprising leaders from the ministry, central-level units, and capital and provincial health departments, with participation via Zoom.

The minister urged departments to work together to advance digital workflows and connect with relevant ministries and institutions to speed up electronic work online. Departments should also review progress starting at the office level, strive to meet expected or planned indicators, and strengthen cooperation with relevant ministries and institutions.

Chheang Ra reminded authorities in the capital and provinces to continue giving close attention to dengue control by stepping up regular activities to eliminate mosquito habitats, spray insecticide, apply Abate larvicide, and continue health education on dengue prevention and on seeking timely care at the health facility nearest to home if dengue is suspected. He also urged heightened vigilance against infectious diseases that may still pose risks to public health.

At the same time, the minister instructed hospital leaders to produce more health education messages and videos to improve public health knowledge, particularly about infectious and noncommunicable diseases, including cancer, cardiovascular disease, high blood pressure, and oral health, as well as effective measures for maintaining health. According to Chheang Ra, “Investment in the health sector will yield long-term results in the future.”
