Cambodia’s Ministry of Tourism and Metfone signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to launch the “My Village, My Food” promotional campaign on the afternoon of September 8, 2026, at the ministry’s headquarters.
Tourism Minister Huot Hak praised Metfone for its close cooperation with the ministry in developing telecommunications infrastructure, advancing digital transformation and actively contributing to tourism development. He said the partnership would not only support national economic growth but also reflect foreign investors’ confidence in Cambodia, which he described as enjoying peace, political stability and a favourable business environment.
The minister emphasised the importance of expanding the promotion of Khmer cuisine. He said the partnership would help publicise Cambodia’s food and tourism potential more widely while encouraging the consumption of local cuisine to showcase the identity and diversity of each destination.
He said modern tourism no longer relies solely on scenery or a destination itself. Instead, it focuses on providing authentic, varied and creative experiences through tasting regional dishes and learning about communities’ culture, traditions and ways of life. In other words, destinations should be promoted together with the experiences and feelings they offer visitors.
Huot Hak also referred to the prime minister’s call for people, especially young people and content creators, to make full use of social media to produce and share videos showcasing local food, culture and products to domestic and international visitors around the world.
The “My Village, My Food” campaign is therefore an important initiative to promote national identity across the provinces and cities by bringing together cuisine, culture, traditions, community life and local tourism products.
