Canadian Naval Vessel Docks in Preah Sihanouk Province, Strengthening Friendship and Bilateral Cooperation

Preah Sihanouk Province: His Excellency Samut Sothearith, Deputy Governor of Preah Sihanouk Province, on the afternoon of September 22, 2026, extended a warm welcome to the delegation of the Embassy of Canada to Cambodia, along with the commanding officer and crew, on the occasion of the Canadian naval vessel HMCS Regina (FFH-334) docking and conducting an official visit to Cambodia from September 22 to 24, 2026.
During the meeting, the Deputy Governor noted that under the leadership of the Royal Government of Cambodia and Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet as Prime Minister, Cambodia has achieved progressive development across all sectors. Preah Sihanouk Province, in particular, is a key economic pole of the nation, full of potential in industry, commerce, tourism, and agro-industry. The province is equipped with infrastructure connecting every direction, including roads, waterways, railways, and air routes, as well as an expressway and a deep-water autonomous seaport capable of accommodating the docking of all types of vessels.
Mr. Christian Desroches, representative of the Canadian Embassy in Cambodia, emphasized the strong relations between the two countries in the fields of economics, trade, and defense cooperation. The current docking of the vessel clearly reflects a commitment to strengthening defense and common security.
In addition, Captain Darren Sleen, the commanding officer of the vessel, expressed deep gratitude for the hospitality and praised the rapid development of Preah Sihanouk Province. The vessel's current Indo-Pacific regional visit aims to build confidence, enhance cooperation, and strengthen friendship through sports exchange activities, sightseeing tours within the province, and courtesy calls with senior leadership in Phnom Penh.
Finally, His Excellency Samut Sothearith, Deputy Governor of Preah Sihanouk Province, expressed his appreciation to the ambassador, the commanding officer, and all the crew, and expressed hope that Cambodia and Canada will continue to strengthen cooperation in trade, investment, tourism, and defense security even further.
