Hun Sen Says He Will Remove Contacts Who Reach Out Without Permission

Samdech Techo Hun Sen, President of the Senate of Cambodia, wrote on social media this evening, September 22, 2026: (If you love someone, don’t visit too often; if you miss them, visit once in a while) This is a teaching from our ancestors. Today marks the one-month anniversary of my grandchild, which should be a joyful occasion, but instead I am not happy because today alone I received nearly 20 messages via Telegram & WhatsApp. Some sent messages requesting an in-person meeting, some talked about family difficulties, and especially asked for money to buy a house, asked for money to buy two motorcycles at once, and some did not state it directly, meaning they asked for a means of transportation, but it is obviously a car because they already have a motorcycle to ride.
And others asked for money to pay school fees for their children to study abroad, etc.
Samdech further stated that in the past I used to help poor students with money for house rental, tuition fees, and some living expenses amounting to only hundreds or thousands of dollars, but today just four people alone amount to tens of thousands of dollars. The cost of buying a house, buying a car and a motorcycle, and paying school tuition fees amounts to tens of thousands of dollars per year, which is more expensive than when my own children studied abroad.
Apart from the matter of money, there is also the disturbance of time through sending messages almost every day, in the morning when the children go to school they send messages, in the evening when the children return from school they also send messages, both voice and text.
I would like to inform you that nowadays I am rarely in contact with my sons, especially the one who serves as Prime Minister because I know they are very busy. Any work that can be postponed will be suspended first and resolved later.
I apologize to those who requested to meet me in person, whom I am unable to meet. If I need to meet, I will call them to meet at once, as in the case of Van Senva and his family more than 10 days ago. I would also like to inform you in advance that I will remove
from the social network anyone who connects with me without permission.
Samdech clarified that finally, I would like to reiterate the teaching of our ancestors that (If you love someone, don’t visit too often; if you miss them, visit once in a while) visiting someone’s house every day makes them tired, and if you send messages every day, they will also get tired, especially if the message is not related to the work of the recipient.
I should not release such a message, but if I do not release it, such cases will continue
and become even more numerous because my phone number is known by more and more people.
