Preah Sihanouk Administration Intensifies Anti-Drug Campaign and Reinforces "Clean Our House" Principles at the Local Level

On September 28, 2026, the Coordination Committee for Promoting the Implementation and Oversight of Drug Control Work of the Ministry of Interior, in cooperation with the Preah Sihanouk Provincial Administration, organized a "Ceremony to Disseminate Policies, Principles, Plans and Basic Knowledge on Drug Issues" for civil servants and national police forces across the province, under the presidency of His Excellency Lieutenant General Neak Yuththea, Secretary of State of the Ministry of Interior, and Mr. Nok Kong, Deputy Governor of Preah Sihanouk Province.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Nok Kong highlighted the results of the province's drug crackdowns in the first half of 2026. Through active educational and administrative measures, authorities handled 263 real cases and detained 991 suspects (75 foreigners). He commended the armed forces and reminded local authorities to continue eliminating drugs at the root, aiming to strengthen the "Safe Village-Commune-Sangkat" policy.

Meanwhile, His Excellency Lieutenant General Neak Yuththea presented nationwide data for the first eight months of 2026, noting that law enforcement handled 7,840 cases (an increase of 10.9%), detained 21,106 suspects (up 14.9%), seized more than 2 tons 779 kilograms of drugs and more than 2 tons 255 kilograms of chemical precursors. Regarding the implementation of Order No. 01 BBB "Clean Our House and Clean the Weeds Out of the Pond," more than 140,000 civil servants and forces were tested, of which 112 tested positive and 109 were dismissed from the civil service.
His Excellency emphasized the three main objectives of the program: instilling legal standards, strengthening the clean role-model image of officials through urine testing, and strengthening the multi-sectoral response mechanism by mobilizing all forces.

Going forward, given that Preah Sihanouk Province is a bustling economic and tourism hub, His Excellency instructed local authorities to deliver educational messages directly to people's doorsteps and adhere to the "3 Don'ts, 1 Report" vision (don't get involved, don't use, don't cover up, and report to the authorities) to completely eradicate drugs from the community.
