Cambodia and New Zealand commit to expanding bilateral trade as New Zealand backs Cambodia's CPTPP membership bid

At the Ministry of Commerce headquarters, H.E. Cham Nimul, Minister of Commerce, granted an audience to H.E. Raylene Siale Tagaloa Liufalani, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of New Zealand to the Kingdom of Cambodia, for a courtesy call and working meeting on the morning of September 28, 2026.
On this occasion, the Minister extended a warm welcome and congratulations to H.E. Raylene Siale Tagaloa Liufalani on her appointment as the new Ambassador to Cambodia. She also highly commended the continued support of the Government of New Zealand in developing human resources in Cambodia through scholarship programs, as well as the provision of various technical assistance aimed at enhancing the effective implementation of free trade agreements, including the RCEP and the AANZFTA.
Both sides also recalled the long-standing friendship and excellent cooperation between Cambodia and New Zealand, particularly in the trade sector, and positively noted the growth in bilateral trade volume over the past period. In addition, the two sides discussed new opportunities to boost trade activities and deepen cooperation through the full implementation of the free trade agreements to which both countries are parties.
Notably, the New Zealand side expressed its support for Cambodia's aspiration and request to join the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP). By: Phei Sokhim
