On the morning of September 29, the Regional Border Committee (RBC) secretariats of Cambodia’s Fourth Military Region and Thailand’s Second Military Region held an informal meeting at the Choam–Sa Ngam International Border Checkpoint in Anlong Veng District, Oddar Meanchey Province, where the two sides continued their communication on border affairs.
The Cambodian delegation was led by Brigadier General Nit Narong, head of the RBC Secretariat, while the Thai delegation was led by Major General Kamphanat Waphansu, also head of the RBC Secretariat. Members of the ASEAN Observer Team (AOT) for Cambodia and Thailand were also present to observe the meeting.
According to the Cambodian side, the meeting was held at the invitation of the RBC Secretariat of the Cambodia Fourth Military Region. During the meeting, the two sides focused their discussions on how to continue implementing the joint statement of the third special meeting of the Cambodia-Thailand General Border Committee (GBC) held on December 27, 2025.
They also exchanged views on strengthening coordination of border operations, addressing related issues, and promoting the restoration of mutual trust, hoping to maintain communication through existing mechanisms to reduce misunderstandings and differences in border affairs.
The Cambodian Ministry of National Defense reaffirmed that Cambodia will continue to implement the December 27, 2025 GBC joint statement, the October 26, 2025 joint statement on the Cambodia-Thailand peace agreement, and other related agreements, and will work to gradually return the border situation to normal.
It is understood that the Cambodia Fourth Military Region and the Thailand Second Military Region have previously maintained ongoing communication on border affairs through the RBC mechanism and have held related consultations observed on site by the ASEAN Observer Team. This meeting also shows that the two sides continue to maintain border dialogue through existing mechanisms.
