Recently, a special expert panel of the International Coordinating Committee for Preah Vihear (ICC-Preah Vihear) traveled to Preah Vihear Province to inspect and assess the protection, restoration and development of important local heritage sites.
The expert panel first surveyed the Koh Ker complex, including Prasat Khnar, Prasat Kok Krorng, Prasat Krachap, Prasat Balang Tboung, Prasat Krahorm and Prasat Pram, and exchanged views with technical staff of the Preah Vihear National Authority, offering recommendations on heritage protection measures and the planning of visitor routes.
On the morning of September 28, the expert panel continued on to the World Heritage site of Preah Vihear Temple, focusing its inspection on the latest progress of emergency restoration work. The inspection covered the Poei Ta Di area and Gopuras I through V of Preah Vihear Temple, areas that suffered varying degrees of damage during the armed conflict in 2025.
The expert panel also reviewed the construction of the drainage system at Preah Vihear Temple and inspected the high-risk areas where the National Authority had previously carried out shoring and reinforcement measures. For sites that still require protection, the experts put forward further recommendations for reinforcement and restoration.

The inspection is intended to gauge the real progress of heritage protection work and to provide technical references for subsequent restoration, reinforcement and visitor management. Related work will continue to focus on the safety and long-term protection of historical heritage.
