Prime Minister Hun Manet expressed concern about growing reliance on artificial intelligence (AI), warning that allowing it to make decisions for people could pose risks.
Speaking on October 2, 2026, at a graduation ceremony for 2,573 Asia Euro University graduates at the Koh Pich Convention and Exhibition Center, he said the effectiveness of AI depends heavily on the data used by its systems.
If that data is inaccurate, the results produced by AI cannot be guaranteed to be correct. He stressed the importance of data quality and accuracy when using the technology.
Hun Manet said machines, however capable, cannot fully replicate human nature. Human decision-making takes account of culture, emotions, sentiments and circumstances, rather than data alone.
He warned that relying too heavily on AI and allowing it to make decisions in place of people could have consequences that should not be overlooked.
