Cambodia will advance large-scale solar streetlight construction. On October 1, Prime Minister Hun Manet said the government plans to install solar streetlights across 13 provinces and cities, covering a total road length of about 1,200 km, with a project budget of about US$6 million.
Hun Manet announced the plan while attending the inauguration ceremony of National Road No. 10 connecting the three provinces of Battambang, Pursat and Koh Kong. He said he has confirmed with the relevant departments that the first phase of the project will cover 13 provinces and cities, not limited to just a few areas.

The plan covers Phnom Penh, Kandal, Kampong Chhnang, Battambang, Banteay Meanchey, Siem Reap, Kampong Cham, Kampong Speu, Takeo, Sihanoukville, Koh Kong, Kampot and Kep.
Hun Manet said the government supports the implementation of the project and hopes to further expand the scope of construction in the future, ultimately covering all 25 provinces and cities across the country, especially promoting the installation of solar streetlights along major national highways.

With the implementation of the project, more roads will receive nighttime lighting, helping to facilitate the nighttime travel of residents and vehicles, while improving road safety. The plan will also further expand the application of solar energy in Cambodia's public infrastructure.
