Before the impact of one typhoon has fully ended, another is already on its way. Affected by Typhoon No. 26 "Surigae" and Typhoon No. 27 "Choi-wan" together, many parts of Cambodia will experience rain, thunderstorms and strong winds from October 1 to 5.
Cambodia's Ministry of Water Resources and Meteorology issued a weather warning on October 1 saying that the impact of "Surigae" has not yet fully dissipated, while "Choi-wan," formed from a low-pressure system in the western Pacific, has already developed.
The meteorological department said the two typhoons will affect the southwest monsoon and further influence the South China Sea, the Mekong River basin, Cambodia's sea areas and weather within the country. However, Cambodia is not on the direct path of either typhoon.
In lowland areas, including Banteay Meanchey, Battambang, Siem Reap, Phnom Penh and other places, rain is expected, accompanied by thunderstorms and strong winds, with rainfall coverage of about 30%.

In Kampong Speu, Pailin, Oddar Meanchey, Preah Vihear, Kratie, Stung Treng, Ratanakiri, Mondulkiri and other areas, as well as the Cardamom Mountains and Dangrek Mountains region, rainfall coverage is about 60%, with thunderstorms and strong winds possible in some places.
In coastal areas including Koh Kong, Sihanoukville, Kampot and Kep, rainfall coverage is expected to be about 40%, accompanied by thunderstorms and strong winds. Waves on coastal waters will also noticeably strengthen, with wave heights of about 0.5 to 1.75 meters.
The Ministry of Water Resources and Meteorology urged the public to stay alert, closely follow the latest weather forecasts, and guard against heavy rain, lightning and strong winds. Travelers by land and water in particular should adjust their plans in time according to weather changes and pay attention to safety.
