A high-level delegation from the U.S. Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) visited Svay Rieng province to strengthen cooperation in preventing, suppressing and cracking down on online scam crimes.
In the context where the Royal Government of Cambodia, as well as the relevant ministries and institutions, is actively strengthening international cooperation to combat technology crimes and online fraud, on October 8, 2026, a delegation of the U.S. Federal Bureau of Investigation, led by Ms. ជូលៀ ស្ទីវេន, Head of the Legal Attaché Unit for Cambodia and Vietnam, along with a working group, visited and held working discussions in Svay Rieng province.
This high-level visit clearly demonstrates the attention paid to and the strengthening of close cooperation between the U.S. government (through the Department of Justice and law enforcement agencies) and the Royal Government of the Kingdom of Cambodia in jointly preventing, investigating and suppressing all forms of transnational crime, as well as hunting down ringleaders and those involved in online scam networks to bring them to justice under the law.
During an on-site inspection of a previously suppressed online scam crime scene in Bavet city, the delegation also met and held working discussions with great care on the spot, with the participation of Mr. ម៉ែន អេង, Deputy Provincial Governor, the high representative of His Excellency ប៉េង ពោធិ៍សា, Governor of the Svay Rieng Provincial Administration, representatives of the prosecution and the Provincial Court, commanders of all three types of armed forces, along with many other specialized officials and relevant persons.
The working discussions and on-site assessment of the geographical situation in Bavet city were aimed at evaluating the results of past crackdowns, exchanging international investigative information, and understanding various measures to continue severing the chains of technology-based fraud crimes by all means. This activity clearly demonstrated the close cooperation between the U.S. Department of Justice and Cambodian authorities in their commitment to eliminating all illegal activities and ensuring the protection of security and social order.
