British investigations into individuals and assets linked to Cambodia's Prince Group have made fresh headway. According to British media reports, a London mansion and a number of luxury assets held by Prince Group's financial chief Thet Li have been frozen, an action that has once again pushed the group's overseas-asset issues into the spotlight.
Reports said Thet Li bought a penthouse in London's Victoria area in 2022 for 8.9 million pounds. The property is in a prime location overlooking St James's Park and the Buckingham Palace area. It has now been placed under asset-freezing
measures.
In addition to the mansion, the measures also cover watches and jewellery reported to be worth about 10.6 million pounds, as well as around 92,600 pounds in cash. How these assets are ultimately disposed of will depend on the subsequent investigation and legal proceedings.
Thet Li is alleged to have close ties to Prince Group founder Chen Zhi and to be involved in the group's finances and international money network. The specific facts underlying the allegations should still be assessed on the basis of investigation findings and judicial determinations.
Previously, British properties belonging to Chen Zhi and another Prince Group associate, Hu Xiaowei, were also frozen. With the assets in Thet Li's name now drawing attention, outside observers are continuing to watch Britain's follow-up investigation and the handling of Prince Group-related assets.
