Recently, Cambodia's Ministry of Water Resources and Meteorology issued a notice stating that the 2026 rainy season is expected to end in the third week of October. As the southwest monsoon weakens and the northeast monsoon gradually strengthens, the country will enter the dry season, with future rainfall projected to decrease.
Based on its monitoring and analysis of sea surface temperature changes in the Western Pacific, the Indian Ocean and the equatorial region, the ministry noted that the El Niño phenomenon is expected to persist through February 2027, and rainfall during the northeast monsoon period may be below normal.

After the rainy season ends, some areas may still see thunderstorms, lightning and strong winds, and the public is urged to remain vigilant.
The ministry called on the public to conserve water, use water resources wisely, prepare in advance for the dry season, and said it would continue to monitor weather conditions and issue updates as appropriate.
