On October 14, Cambodia's Ministry of Labour and Vocational Training issued a notice warning the public to be wary of recruitment scams that lure people into going to Russia for work with promises of high salaries, and urged people not to trust these false commitments.
The Ministry of Labour pointed out that, as of now, Cambodia and Russia have not signed any agreement on labour exchange or on sending Cambodian workers to Russia.
The notice said that some individuals or groups are recruiting under the banner of working in Russia, promising high pay and even claiming that subsidies will be paid in advance to applicants' families, in order to attract people to sign up.
The Ministry of Labour reminded the public to stay vigilant during the job-seeking process, carefully verify recruitment information and the relevant qualifications, and avoid suffering losses from trusting high-salary promises.
The Ministry of Labour stressed that, without approval from the competent authorities in accordance with the law, the unauthorized posting of recruitment information for work in Russia or the organization of people to travel to Russia for work are both illegal, and those responsible will be held legally accountable.
