The National Disaster Management Authority confirmed that the death toll from the drone attack on a village in northeastern Nigeria’s Yobe state has risen to 62.
According to Amnesty International’s Nigeria chapter, an armed group targeted the village of Binnari in Taraba state, destroying homes, a shopping center, a food market and numerous vehicles, as the Nigerian military reported that the death toll could continue to rise.
Nigeria is under a heavy security crisis that has lasted for more than 15 years, with the Boko Haram armed group launching attacks against the government, while the civil society continues to face intimidation and extortion by armed groups in the northern parts of the country.
