PREAH SIHANOUK: The first round of the 2027 National Off-Road Championship officially opened on the morning of October 29, 2026, near Poy Chumteav Mao beach (Doeum Chheu Cham Sneh) in Bit Trang ward, Kampong Som city, Preah Sihanouk province. The competition runs from October 29 to 31.
The opening ceremony was presided over by Preah Sihanouk Deputy Governor Samuth Sothearith, representing Governor Mang Sineth. Tea Siam, Vice President of the Cambodia Motor Sports Federation and chairman of the organising committee, attended alongside leaders, government officials, local authorities and a large number of male and female racers.
Tea Siam said the event had two main aims: to promote and develop motor racing in Cambodia, and to help introduce the potential tourism destinations of Preah Sihanouk province to the public.
Deputy Governor Samuth Sothearith said the event was in line with Phase I of the Royal Government of Cambodia’s Pentagonal Strategy under Prime Minister Hun Manet, which gives high priority to tourism as a pillar of the economy. The provincial administration is working to improve infrastructure, strengthen security and public order, and develop new tourism products to make Preah Sihanouk a vibrant and safe green coastal tourism destination.
The deputy governor urged all male and female racers to uphold sportsmanship and accept victory or defeat with ethics, honesty, fairness and friendship, in keeping with the slogan “Sport lives in peace, sport for friendship, sport for tourism.” He joyfully declared the 2027 National Off-Road Championship open.
