A Chinese national decided to jump from a fast-moving vehicle on a road in Lampang Province, Thailand, to escape the kidnapping attempt she had disclosed after saying that a weight-loss program she had joined had secretly sent her to the country.
According to the Chinese national, who was traveling via social media, a group of Chinese nationals recognized her from the online post and brought her to Thailand, promising to welcome her at the airport and take her to meet a group of fellow Thais waiting to receive her.
However, no more than 10 minutes after the vehicle started moving, her mobile phone and all other belongings were seized, after which the vehicle sped out of Bangkok toward the northern border with Thailand-Myanmar.
Upon reaching Lampang Province, the driver decided to open the vehicle door and jump out, prompting local residents to assist in rescuing her and treat her injuries, while police arrested the four foreign nationals accompanying her.
It should also be noted that the Chinese Consulate in Bangkok recently issued a statement expressing serious concern over the safety of numerous Chinese citizens who went missing after traveling to Thailand and were reportedly detained and trafficked to the Thai-Myanmar border.
