The Iran-backed Houthis said Saudi-led airstrikes killed 14 people at a busy market in northern Yemen.
Anees al-Asbahi, a spokesman for the Houthi-run Health Ministry, posted on X that the strikes targeted a market near a gas station in al-Hazm, al-Jawf province, while it was crowded with people. Separately, Yemen’s Transport Ministry condemned the Houthis for two ballistic-missile attacks on Aden airport, which directly threatened the lives of passengers, flight crews and workers.
Houthi-run Al-Masirah television also reported airstrikes on Mayun island, also known as Perim, in the Bab al-Mandeb Strait, a major waterway after the Strait of Hormuz.
The Bab al-Mandeb Strait had become an important alternative route for Saudi oil and other exports since Iran began targeting shipping in the Strait of Hormuz, until the Houthis took control of the island in September. Article: Rithy
