Phnom Penh: On January 8, 2026, Tourism Minister Huot Hak, who also chairs Cambodia’s tourism market research and promotion board, led the board’s meeting to review its 2025 work and set directions for 2026.
Around 30 people attended, including board members, representatives of ministries and state institutions, Oknha and other private-sector participants, and the board’s executive unit.
This was the eighth meeting of the tourism market research and promotion board, convened to:
(1) review progress in work accomplished in 2025;
(2) assess strengths, shortcomings, challenges and recommendations;
(3) determine continuing work directions for 2026.
The meeting acknowledged and highly appreciated the results achieved, attributing them to the continuing guidance of Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet, in accordance with the dynamic approach of the single-actor system and tourism’s six strategic pillars.
All ministries, institutions and stakeholders have worked hard within their respective professional mandates, in a proactive, active and interactive spirit, to preserve the resilience and stability of Cambodian tourism in confronting crises and challenges.
The board chairman stressed that rapid global change and uncertainty—including global economic risks, geopolitical tensions and regional security conditions, as well as what he described as Thai military violations of Cambodian sovereign territory—have created difficult circumstances requiring participation at all levels, in solidarity and unity under the Royal Government.
Accordingly, the board set out strategic plans, key measures, continuing work directions and concrete implementation activities for 2026. These aim to sustain Cambodian tourism’s resilience and stimulate development momentum, maintaining and strengthening high regional competitiveness with confidence, creativity, adaptability to circumstances and a high degree of caution.
