Summary

A February 4 Foreign Ministry release said Hun Manet had written to President Emmanuel Macron seeking technical expertise and historical border documents, while thanking France for supporting the ceasefire.

Prime Minister Hun Manet asked France to consider providing specialist technical support and historical documents relating to the international border between Cambodia and Thailand, inherited from the protectorate era, according to a Cambodian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation press release dated February 4, 2026.

The head of government's request was made in a letter to French President Emmanuel Macron, in response to France's expressed readiness to provide historical and technical documents concerning the Cambodia–Thailand international border if Cambodia requested them.

Hun Manet also expressed Cambodia's sincere thanks for France's principled support for the ceasefire between Cambodia and Thailand and its constructive involvement in efforts to facilitate a peaceful settlement of the dispute in accordance with international law.

He stressed that Cambodia valued France's role not only as a permanent member of the United Nations Security Council but also as a leading advocate of global governance, international law and multilateralism, and as a longstanding partner bound by mutual respect, shared history and common values.
