Summary

The Mines and Energy Ministry outlined producing provinces, mining investment and jobs, and non-tax revenue growth, alongside domestic stone and sand supply.

At the 2026 Mineral Products Exhibition, the Ministry of Mines and Energy reported that Cambodia produced about 18 tonnes of gold between 2021 and 2025 in provinces including Preah Vihear, Kampong Thom, Mondulkiri, Ratanakiri, Kratie and Battambang. Officials described gold as an emerging source of national revenue. Stone and construction sand also supplied the domestic market steadily, helping stabilise prices and support infrastructure.

Figures cited in the report put total mining investment at nearly US$3 billion and direct employment at about 12,130 jobs, with Cambodian citizens accounting for 95%. Mining non-tax revenue rose from US$13.1 million in 2016 to US$135.55 million in 2025. The ministry said Cambodia had abundant, competitively priced mineral resources capable of meeting local demand and potentially replacing some imported products.
