Pailin Governor Ban Srey Mom said the government led by Prime Minister Hun Manet was encouraging the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries to train farming communities and producer groups by sending specialists directly to local areas. The aim was to raise yields, reduce production costs and protect both consumers and growers, particularly by producing the quantity and quality required by domestic and export markets.
She made the remarks while leading specialists and a working team to inspect vegetable production in Pailin on February 15, 2026. She encouraged farmers to produce more for domestic and export markets at reasonable prices and with naturally produced quality that consumers could trust without harming health, setting out the production standards she wanted farmers to pursue.
She added that the Ministry of Commerce, through the Accelerating Inclusive Markets for Smallholders project, or AIMS, had organised clusters of naturally produced local products in Pailin. These encouraged more livestock raising and cultivation to supply markets on time, in the required quantities and at reasonable prices, avoiding poor-quality production or a lack of buyers. She said several companies were buying vegetables, fruit and other farm products for packing and drying before export to China, Vietnam, the European Union and the United States, among other markets.
To encourage growers, the governor bought their vegetables and urged greater organic vegetable production to improve household livelihoods and meet market demand. She said farmers unable to sell their vegetables should contact her team, and she would help find buyers.
