Dam 3 reservoir, with storage capacity of 25.5 million cubic metres, had released substantial water for farmers. To retain supplies for daily use during the dry season, Pursat’s Water Resources and Meteorology Department urged residents to conserve as much as possible.
The provincial department said on February 18: “Dam 3 reservoir can store 25.5 million cubic metres for agricultural irrigation and use along the Pursat River. However, substantial releases have already supported dry-season rice and supplementary irrigation toward the end of the dry season. To preserve water for everyday use this dry season, please conserve as much as possible for the common benefit of Pursat province.”
The article also noted earlier Water Resources and Meteorology Ministry advice, based on weather monitoring, analysis and forecasts, for authorities and residents to watch for thunderstorms, lightning and strong gusts that might become more frequent in April and May.
