Preah Sihanouk Governor Mang Sineth expressed sympathy for people with drug addiction at the national treatment centre after seeing the difficult situation of those undergoing education and rehabilitation to avoid unlawful conduct.
The gathering took place on the afternoon of February 21 at the Keo Phos national centre for voluntary and community-based drug treatment and rehabilitation, in Rithy 2 village, Keo Phos commune, Stung Hav district, Preah Sihanouk.
Mang Sineth warned that drug use could seriously damage physical and mental health, relationships, society and the economy. He said emotionally: “I am happy to meet you, but I do not want to meet you here (at the drug-treatment centre).”
The governor stressed that people should not spend their lives at the centre because of drug use, which created economic problems, increased crime and burdened society.
The article concluded that drugs could damage vital organs including the brain, heart and lungs, and affect behaviour and decisions. It advocated a drug-free life as a route toward a safer, happier and more successful future.
