On February 22, Preah Sihanouk province hosted a major running event with more than 12,000 participants, exceeding expectations. Part of the Tourism, Culture and Trade Event celebrations, it drew an enthusiastic crowd and encouraged public participation in sport.
Tourism Minister Huot Hak and Preah Sihanouk Governor Mang Sineth presided over the event under the theme “Sport for Health and National Unity.” It promoted healthy living, stress relief through exercise, solidarity and mutual assistance in the spirit of one Khmer family.
Beyond physical fitness, the event was viewed as a way to stimulate tourism and the local economy. It used sport to promote local culture and commercial activity and showcase the coastal city’s development and vitality, aiming to attract more visitors and business opportunities.
