Following monitoring and analysis, the Ministry of Water Resources and Meteorology said low pressure then covered the South China Sea, Mekong basin, Cambodian waters and Cambodia, potentially bringing early-season rain, thunderstorms and strong winds to much of the country. It urged residents and local authorities to remain vigilant against possible hazards and damage to crops.
The February 25 notice forecast early-season rain from February 26 to March 3, 2026. In lowland areas—Banteay Meanchey, Battambang, Pursat, Siem Reap, Kampong Thom, Kampong Chhnang, Kampong Cham, Tboung Khmum, Prey Veng, Svay Rieng, Kandal, Takeo and Phnom Penh—rain, thunder, lightning and strong winds were expected over about 30% of the area.
In upland areas, including Kampong Speu, Pailin, Oddar Meanchey, Preah Vihear, Stung Treng, Kratie, Ratanakiri, Mondulkiri and the Cardamom and Dangrek ranges, coverage was forecast at 40%. Coastal areas—Koh Kong, Preah Sihanouk, Kampot, Kep and the Bokor range—could also see 40% coverage, with waves between 0.25 and 1 metre. The ministry said it would continue monitoring and provide updates if conditions changed.
