According to Kampong Speu’s provincial administration, the Samdech Techo Voluntary Youth Doctor Association (TYDA) provided free general medical examinations and treatment on the morning of February 28, 2026, to nearly 4,000 residents from Samakki Munichey, Thpong and Aoral districts and Oudong Mae Chey municipality. The programme was held at Bun Rany Hun Sen Chan Thnal High School in Krang Chek commune, Samakki Munichey district.
Dr. Pech Chanmony Hun Manet, vice-chair of TYDA’s board of directors, said the activity supported the government’s strategy to strengthen equitable access to quality healthcare for people from all backgrounds, regardless of identity or affiliation.
She said TYDA’s main objectives were to work with the Ministry of Health to provide free healthcare, especially for poor people and remote rural communities; reduce household medical expenses and help alleviate poverty; and support the training and development of healthcare personnel through student and youth volunteer participation.
TYDA brought together more than 400 doctors and health personnel from hospitals and health institutions in Phnom Penh to provide general and selected specialist services. For cases needing further advanced treatment, the team would coordinate referrals to specialist hospitals in Phnom Penh, with financial support according to available means.
Dr. Cheam Chan Sophorn thanked TYDA’s doctors for serving residents in their communities, describing the activity as a meaningful contribution to community well-being and reduced economic burdens.
The report noted that this was TYDA’s sixth free medical outreach in Kampong Speu, reflecting its commitment to continued humanitarian work and a stronger, more effective national health system.
