Summary

Pen Sovicheat explained the one-US-cent-per-litre reductions tied to international gasoline and diesel thresholds and the March 1–10 retail prices.

Following the outbreak of war in the Middle East, the Cambodian government was preparing to continue measures to ease household costs if fuel prices rose sharply. Commerce Ministry spokesperson Pen Sovicheat said on March 4 that successive governments had used such measures during global gasoline-price increases and continued to do so.

He explained that the government would reduce retail prices by one US cent per litre when international gasoline prices reached US$90 per barrel, with a corresponding one-cent reduction for diesel at US$100 per barrel or above. Cambodian station retail prices were then set for ten-day periods. From March 1 to 10, 2026, regular gasoline and diesel were both priced at 3,850 riel per litre, up 100 riel and 50 riel respectively from the preceding ten days.

Pen Sovicheat said the Middle East war could affect Cambodian fuel prices to varying degrees through rising international prices. Cambodia is not an oil-producing country and its current consumption relies on imports.
