Phnom Penh: On the evening of March 3, 2026, Governor Khuong Sreng attended the official unveiling of the “Art for Peace” mural at Wat Botum Vatey Park, Chaktomuk sangkat, Daun Penh district. Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Civil Service and Union of Youth Federations of Cambodia President Hun Many presided over the ceremony.

The large work measures five metres wide and 35 metres long and was created by a team of artists over 12 days. It reflects the pain, loss and hardship experienced by Cambodians during the 2025 war and stresses peace and national unity as foundations for the future.

Khuong Sreng said the mural was not just art but a historical record of the severe effects of conflict on civilians and public infrastructure. He said people from all backgrounds contributing alongside the government led by Prime Minister Hun Manet had formed a firm foundation for defending sovereignty and territorial integrity.

Hun Many said this was the second “Art for Peace” mural, following the first in Siem Reap, and demonstrated active participation by young people and artists in expressing national spirit. He stressed that it reflected sorrow, anger and suffering but was not intended to incite hatred or revenge against any country.

He said the work recalled the destruction and losses caused by war across all sectors and called on all sides to preserve peace and national solidarity. Beyond an artwork for viewing, it symbolised a people-based national defence grounded in unity and mutual respect.

Hun Many also invited Cambodians at home and abroad to visit the mural to strengthen a spirit of peace and understanding of the value of national unity.
