Phnom Penh, March 4, 2026: Opening the ASEAN–Cambodia Business Summit 2026 at Sofitel Phnom Penh Phokeethra, Prime Minister Hun Manet said the government had decided to shift its policy from “containment” to “total eradication” of technology-enabled online-scam centres with a stated deadline of April 2026.
He said the decision aimed to strengthen law enforcement, institutional compliance and the integrity of the investment environment. It signalled that Cambodia would not allow digital scams to continue harming its reputation and investor confidence.
His speech highlighted strategic advantages for investors, including political stability, macroeconomic resilience, broad market access, a clear legal framework and a long-term reform agenda.
The government was continuing to build a secure, predictable operating environment with reduced strategic risks to strengthen confidence and long-term business sustainability.
