The Cambodia–ASEAN association for promoting economic and trade cooperation expressed interest in investing in cashew processing and bonded warehousing in Cambodia. The report said the association was established in 2024, recognised by Cambodia’s Interior Ministry and the Chinese government, and included Chinese companies from various sectors.
The intentions were presented on the morning of March 9, 2026, when Chea Vuthy, Secretary-General of the Cambodian Investment Board of the Council for the Development of Cambodia, met an association delegation led by its president, Wang Tong.
Chea Vuthy said rapid investment growth in 2024 and 2025 reflected an improving investment climate. He asked the association to encourage more production of raw materials and semi-finished goods to stabilise supply chains and consider agricultural investments such as cashews, cassava, rice and plantation timber.
He said the government was prioritising cashew-industry development, planning an integrated cashew-processing zone and special incentives for investment within it.
He welcomed the proposed cashew-processing investment, expressing hope that it would materialise soon and saying the investment board would facilitate companies’ project registration.
